LG Optimus 4X HD is the fourth device in the LG Optimus-Android series which carries a quad core processor. It was introduced at the Mobile World Conference earlier this year.
Now, XDA senior member alexp999 has a root method for this device. Now your LG Optimus 4X HD is completely open for you for various kinds of customizations on Android 4.0 ICS.
The root method is a little bit tiresome but is easy. Below are the steps to root LG Optimus 4X HD on Android 4.0 ICS firmware :
- Download the LG USB Drivers and install them.
- Download and extract the root kit to “C:\o4xr”
- Download and copy IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk to your device.
- On the device make sure that Unknown Sources are ticked by going to Settings ->Security.
- Make sure that USB debugging is enables by going to Settings -> Developer options.
- Then install IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk
- Open the SystemBackup Test app which you just installed.
- Choose Power off and restart by holding the power on button.
- Then you may find the device running slowly, need not worry it is quite normal.
- Connect the device to your PC via USB cable.
- Open a command prompt, type cd C:\o4xr and press enter.
- Then type root and press enter.
- Wait till the device boots automatically.
- You should then see the command prompt C:\o4xr>
- Open up Google Play Store in your device and search for SuperSU.
- Update SuperSU then open it.
- Press OK to update the SU binary.
- You now have root and can safely remove the “SystemBackupTest” app, and restore the “Unknown Sources” and “USB debugging” settings back to how you had them.
