How To Root Sony Xperia Acro S On ICS

Sony Xperia Acro S is a completely water resistant device which holds a 12 MP camera with autofocus and an LED flash light. It comes with a Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon chip-set, dual-core 1.5 GHz Scorpion CPU and Adreno 220 GPU. It is shipped with an internal storage of 16 GB and a 1 GB RAM. The device runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Now, XDA member heeroyun has posted a root method for this device on ICS. You’ll need some Acro S files, Flashtool 0.9.0.0, and the device drivers for this method to work. This method also demands enabling USB debugging and installation from unknown sources.

This method by heeroyun is a simple one. Unlocking the bootloader is not necessary for this method to work, but it is better to have the device’s bootloader unlocked.

You’ll need to make the following preparations before starting the root

• Application Settings: [Unknown sources] checked {Allowed}
• Application Settings: Development [USB debugging] checked {Allowed}
• Application Settings: Development [Stay awake] checked {Allowed}
• Settings -> Display settings, set screen timeout to 30 minutes
• Don’t use any live wallpapers, use a regular picture for the background
• Charge the device to 80% and keep the display brightness minimum

Here is the step by step method to root the device

• Turn off your Acro S and prepare to flash the 2.3.7 file, check all the things in the wipe column and uncheck the rest.
• Plug in the device while holding the volume down. Close Flashtool once the flashing is completed.

• Then Run step1.bat.
• Using Flashtool flash 4.0.4 files, check no final verification and close Flashtool when finished.
• Turn on the device and connect it via USB cable and Run Step2.bat.
• You will get a message pushing SuperSU and the device will reboot during this.
