Reluctant to install the AOSP browser thinking that it would cost you to root the device? Nexus owners longer need to be partially satisfied with any other replacement browser which offers poor scrolling and no flash support. Fortunately for the Nexus users, with Android 4.3, XDA Forum Member blackhand1001 has posted a method to install AOSP browser without root privileges.
blackhand1001 has also introduced a bookmark synchronization feature in this browser which enables you to share the favorite bookmark with the Chrome browser. This method works for Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, 7 and 10 running Android 4.3.
How to install AOSP Browser without root on Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, 7 and 10 :
The installation process doesn’t involve anything sophisticated. Just follow the steps below to install AOSP browser on your Nexus device (Android 4.3) without root/losing the warranty or OTA updates.
Download the zip from the original thread at XDA.
Navigate to system/app with a file manager and install browserproviderproxy.apk.
Reboot your device
Install signedBrowser_blackhand1001.apk
Install ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter_blackhand1001.apk (for bookmark syncing feature)
Finish! Hope you have flashed it with ease. Feel free to post down your queries as comments and we’ll be pleased to look in to it. Subscribe to our feed using the subscription box on the right,
