A while ago, we brought into your notice about an universal root method for all ICS devices in our post:Now, XDA recognized developer Bin4ry is working on a common script to root both ICS and Jelly Bean which can work on a wide range of devices.
This universal root method has been successfully tested in a number of devices including Sony Xperia S, Xperia T, Xperia P, Xperia Ion, Xperia Tipo and the very new Google Nexus 7 (UK Firmware). This script uses a remount timing issue in Androids adb restore service and is expected to work in many more ICS and Jelly Bean devices.
There is something special in the case of devices including Xperia T and Xperia S,P etc. as Sony has included a own custom Backup&Restore app instead of android’s native restore. The script handles this by providing you with some options which you’ll have to choose correctly.
The flashing purpose won’t cost much time as it only involves downloading the necessary files, extracting it using 7 zip, running the RunMe.bat and just following the onscreen instructions.
